Ink & watercolor
A mountain river dreamscape with leaping rainbow trout, lush forests, and refreshing rain.
I created this ‘reflected’ composition by drawing one half of the linework in pencil and ink, scanning it, flipping it, then joining the two halves in the center. I printed the final line-art on watercolor paper and painted it by hand with my favorite Kuretake watercolors.
I haven’t done much artwork focusing on freshwater habitats throughout my career and decided it was time to address that with this one. Also, fish are forever one of my favorite groups of animals.
