Hello!
I’m Sharon and I’m an artist, illustrator, and designer. I work out of my home studio.
I’ve been drawing and creating for my entire life.
As a child, I drew constantly. I just couldn’t get enough of it. I never wanted to stop!
So I didn’t. In 2011, I graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and graphic design.
Today, I work as a freelance artist. I specialize in illustration and surface design created by hand with traditional art materials. Ink and watercolor painting are my current favorites. I also enjoy working in colored pencil, acrylic paint, marker, pen, and more.
I’ve been obsessed with drawing megafauna, like dinosaurs and whales, since I was a kid. Some things never change! I used the online moniker Omegafauna for many years, and the name stuck when I opened my Etsy shop in 2011. Many of my longtime social media and shop accounts remain under the name Omegafauna.
My interest in nature over the years has expanded to include our entire planet of flora, fauna, and wild places. Conservation and celebration of our natural world is at the heart of why and what I create.
My husband and I recently moved back to our “home state” of South Dakota, after living in Florida for few years. I was born in the South and I’m not sure I’ll ever quite adjust to midwestern winters. My love of both warm coastal places and wide open prairie spaces are both reflected in my artwork and are very much autobiographical.
Thank you for stopping by!
